What Is Freedom Fighters?

 

 

Freedom Fighters is an intense third-person action game set in an alternate present, where the Soviet Union won the Cold War and rules most parts of the world. Freedom Fighters has some elements of shooter video games. Originally released in 2003, IO Interactive’s cult classic is currently available digitally in its original form. 


Příběh a pozadí

 

 

Freedom Fighters takes place in a present from a parallel timeline. It is set in an alternate history New York during the invasion of a foreign superpower nation, the Soviet Union. 

This foreign superpower is sending television presenters and regular people to concentration camps for reeducation. Communists have invaded South America and, at the same time, are entering the United States. 

You assume the role of Chris Stone, a hard-working plumber who becomes a charismatic leader of the resistance against the red army that is invading New York and creating a fierce conflict.

Freedom Fighters is a third-person shooter. You go throughout the city of New York, fighting against soviet forces and helping resistance to prove that America wants liberty. 

You gain charisma points when you do some heroic activities, such as capturing a base or helping victims. The charisma you get increases your level of influence over other rebels. This way, you can command them. 


Režim pro více hráčů

 

 

In this mode, you gather flags and bunkers. The flag you need to win is located in the center of the map. Bunkers are scattered around the map. Each bunker has a stock, which includes a medical kit and ammo cartridge.

The maximum number of players this mode allows is four. They can choose between both sides, either the American or Soviet. 

As for weapons, you can collect weapons throughout the map and change them any time you want on the battlefield. In the map, there are several areas where weapons and ammo are stored.

You control eight soldiers in a regular way. If the battle is 4 vs 4, you only control 4 soldiers. 

There are three maps available in this mode:

  • Greenwich Village.
  • Brooklyn Rooftops.
  • Fort Jay.
